The ART of paying attention

The journey to here has been an interesting one. My desire is to be true - to the God who created me and what he created me to be, to be true to myself and do only the things I was created for!! Heck, there are some crazy distractions in this world!!

My desire is also to be true, for YOU. To share the stories of my life in a way that encourages and gives you hope.

My experience is that there is POWER in each of our stories! But we need to share them for that power to be released. Once this became my practice "Telling the Stories" I also started to pay attention to how God would show up. To SEE what he was doing - around me and through me.

John 5:19

Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can only do what he sees the Father doing, because what the Father does the Son also does. The the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed.

I have found these verses

- confusing

- challenging

- inspirational

So without knowing what else to do, I started praying that I would SEE what he wanted me to SEE. And way before I caught up to what he was doing I started to NOTICE things I had not seen before. As a journaller and creative play addict I began to connect the dots and worked out there were new ways to hear God within these mediums. Creativity can open the door to more of God.

I was hungry to hear his voice and see what he was up to in my life. Words, colour and play was the way that he satisfied my hunger and feed me. It's a very tasty meal.

This exploration, and a timely invitation from Sue Whiteley lead me to host my first creative journaling session. Since then I have run multiple sessions that I now call Creative Conversations with God. Through a mix of Journaling, Spiritual disciplines and gentle creative prompts participants have the time and opportunity to discover new tools and means of being in conversation with their Creator. I'm always delighted by the personal way that the Spirit shows up for people in these sessions.
